Congratulations, you have moved away from ambivalence and into a place of decision. To grow, move, learn, explore, improve, heal, or even only consider change is rewarding and should be celebrated. Making a decision is a step in the change process- you are already doing life enhancing work.
Decision trees are a popular approach in the consideration process. The blocks of truth (Restorative Source’s made up name 😉) also provides an opportunity to flow and allow thoughts, motives, feelings, priorities to come out however, this approach is wildly honest and possibly a bit more raw. I hope you enjoy and benefit from it as much as I do. First let’s talk about what a place of consideration may look like.
There are four flavors of ambivalence.
Approach/Approach= either way you go the results are positive.
Avoidance/Avoidance= both directions are unpleasant.
Approach/Avoidance= There is only one choice being considered; it is positive, however, it also brings significant negative aspects.
Double Approach/Avoidance= The most difficult of all. Two positive choices are being considered, however, both also bring significant negative aspects.
It is also important to highlight that a choice not to change is in fact a choice as well and also carries positive and/or negative results. After exploring options in directs of change (or not) and acknowledging the good and bad of those choices, are now ready for digging deep and making our own blocks of truth.
The simplest blocks of truth will be 2 blocks on top of another set of 2 blocks. These two floors of the building will house the truths of making a change or remaining the same. It can also be used for deciding between to options of change. The third floor is a roof top garden, also divided in half, option 1 on the left of garden and option 2 on the right. The second floor is labeled positive and the first floor is labeled negative.
Free-flow all your thoughts, feelings, priorities, motives about all of it, good and bad. let it all out the more real you can be about it all the better. You never have to show anyone these blocks of truth.
After letting it all out, consider who you are, who you see yourself as in the future. Grab ahold of what most important to you in your heart. Now highlight/ circles the bit of these core values that are in your blocks of truth building. What new insights do you see? What areas of this decision feel different after this construction and redecoration?
Your motivations, core values, and over all life priorities are the foundations and telling signs of who you are and who you were created to be. May you be blessed in your coming and going and all that you are and do.
