Dehydrator Review Excalibur VS Cosori for a Living Foods Diet
LOW AND SLOW FOR IMMUNITY BOOST – Cooking foods at a temperature no higher than 115-118 degrees in a dehydrator preserves nutrients and enzymes. The immunity boost is the whole reason I got into dehydrators. However, dehydrators are great for foodies, families, pets, gardeners, and even sportsmen; anyone looking for food that is simply natural, packed with health, and delicious.
There are many dehydrator options available and some are really inexpensive; however, you really get what you pay for with this appliance. The inexpensive ones will dry your food but lack the specialized temperature and warm air circulation mechanisms needed to maintain foods pure raw health promoting nutrient content. If you are looking to elevate your kitchen skills, preserve, or retain foods vitamins, minerals and enzymes sophisticated models are a must. Cosori and Excalibur make excellent dehydrators. There is a detailed table below including some of the best models for this purpose. Because reducing plastic is important, the two models to review are both made predominately of stainless steel.
HEALTHY SNACKS! Dehydrated fruits and vegetables, crunchy sprouted nuts, tofu/ tempe jerky, fruit puree for fruit roll-ups, raise bread, sprouted cracks and pizza crusts, make all natural pet treats, preserve herb and flowers, or make homemade plant yogurt. HEALTHY MEALS!
COSORI CP267-FD VS Excalibur EXC10EL
EXCALIBUR. Made in the USA, Excalibur is a well known and respected dehydrator company. Excalibur stands by their appliances with a 10 year limited warranty. The parallel horizontal airflow is exclusive to Excalibur and helps the food dehydrate faster, retain more nutrients and look and taste better, without tray rotation. This patented hyperwave technology and 7 inch fan removes water from food with a continuous circulation of thermosatically-controlled warm air that ranges from 105 degrees Fahrenheit to 165 degrees Fahrenheit. The adjustable thermostat is low enough for fruits and vegetables and is also high enough for dehydrating meat for jerky if you choose. Set it and forget it because excalibur includes a 99 hour timer, is 110/120 volt and 600 watts. The capacity of many Excalibur appliances are extraordinary. The 10 stainless steel tray EXC10EL electric food dehydrator is no exception. It has 16 square feet of drying space, offering plenty of room for favorite snack creations, food prep projects, and nutrient packed meals. Excalibur includes easy to clean flexible poly-screen tray inserts to prevent foods from sticking and trays do not need to be moved or rotated during operation!
COSORI. Designed in California. Cosori is newer to the scene than Excalibur and only offers a one year warranty. Cosori does not offer as many dehydrator model options compared to Excalibur either. However, what Cosori has chosen to incorporate in dehydrator CP267-FD are great choices. The model CP267-FD is made with food-grade stainless steel and a glass front door for informative processing. The digital control panel allows the timer to be set in 30-minute increments for up to 48 hours at a set temperature between 95º-165º Fahrenheit. Cosori, much like the Excalibur, is also simple to start and library like quiet to use (48dB). Capacity of Cosori is smaller than many Excalibur options; model CP267-FD has a 6 tray capacity which offers 4 square feet of drying space. Cosori also provides auto shut off when the timer ends and has closely similar 120V and 600W. Cosori’s BPA-free 6 trays are top rack dishwasher-safe if you remove them before the drying cycle (Wow, what dishwasher accommodates all that?!). Also included are tray liners for the 6 Stainless Steel Trays, 1 Mesh Screen, 1 Fruit Roll Sheet, and additional accessories available for purchase through their website.
My Favorite. Excalibur EXC10EL has everything you could ever want, the name that has stood the test of time, and the space to make all your dehydration dreams come true. Please see table below for detailed comparisons and current pricing.
